Bambang Sugiharto has been focusing his philosophy on the phenomenon of Postmodernism, philosophy of science, philosophy of culture, contemporary aesthetics, and problems of religions. At present he is the head of Liberal Arts study program ( ‘Studi Humanitas’/ Integrated Arts), in Parahyangan Catholic University. His books are, among others: OVERLAPPING TERRITORIES: ASIAN VOICES ON CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION (Cambridge Scholar press, 2012); KEBUDAYAAN DAN KONDISI POST-TRADISI (Culture and the Post-tradition Condition)(Kanisius, 2019); SENI DAN KONDISI POST-HUMAN (Art and the Post-Human condition); “POSTMODERNISME: TANTANGAN FILSAFAT”(Postmodernism: a challenge to Philosophy) (Kanisius, 1997), UNTUK APA SENI ? (Why Arts ?) (Matahari, 2014). He used to be a research fellow in several circles of philosophy, among others, in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Washington DC, Hongkong, and Tokyo; used to be the Secretary General of International Society for Universal Dialogue (New York); and used to be the President of Asian Association of Christian Philosophers (Taipei). He received a Cultural Award from the Mayor of Bandung in 2012; and the Ganesa Wirya Jasa Adiutama Award from ITB in 2023. He is a member of the Advisory Board of FSRD Graduate School, ITB; Advisory Board of ISBI Bandung; and the Curatorial Board of Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, Bandung.
