Profile
Rudi Setiawan was born in Bandung in 1973. His interest in philosophy has grown since his undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Faculty of Philosophy, UNPAR. He became a monk of the Order of the Holy Cross in 1992, but decided not to continue his vocation. In 2006, he worked at the UNPAR Humanities Development Institute (Lembaga Pengembangan Humaniora), which manages student character education, liberal arts teaching, and the exploration of UNPAR’s Spirituality and Core Values. Since 2010, he has been a permanent lecturer at UNPAR’s Faculty of Philosophy. His attention to ethical issues led him to join the Indonesian Ethics Lecturers Association (Himpunan Dosen Etika Seluruh Indonesia – HIDESI). Besides teaching and research, he is also actively involved in managing the academic journal “Melintas” as editor, managing the Faculty’s alumni association, serving the Taize Prayer community, and serving on the Daily Council of St. Odilia Parish in Bandung. He has served as Deputy Head of the Humanities Development Institute (2010-2016). He is currently the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy (2024-2027).
