Profile
Sr. Gerardette Philips, RSCJ, an Indian-born religious of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, has been serving in Indonesia’s Jakarta/Bandung for the past twenty five years. She has her Doctorate in Philosophy of Religion and a double Master’s degree. She also holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Special Education and a Diploma in Theology. She is presently a lecturer at Parahyangan Catholic University and a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Religious Studies at Bandung State Islamic University. Founder of Halaqah Damai Peace Circle, she has served as a Consultor to Pope Benedict XVI and was a speaker at the UN-62nd General Assembly on Peace. She has published – Beyond Pluralism and Open Integrity, a Text book for Islamic Studies, a Journal for Interreligious Studies, along with articles and educational modules. She is actively engaged in dialogue between Muslims and Christians and fosters peace among diverse communities.
