Profile
Thomas Kristiatmo pursued his doctorate studies under Gerard Kevin Whelan, a Lonerganian theologian, with a doctoral thesis Historicity, Objectivity, and the Church: A Systematic Proposal based on a Dialectical Study of Avery Dulles’ Method of Models Employing the Thought of Bernard Lonergan. It was then that his growing interest in ecclesiology found its fruitful medium in Lonergan thought which allows him to put into practice a down-to-earth yet impactful approach to doing ecclesiology especially against the background of Asian context. He is also actively participating in various researches to do with Lonergan. The most recent undertakings include a presentation of his paper “Fourth Functional Specialty: A Dialectic Analysis of Avery Dulles’ Method of Models” on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Lonergan’s Method in Theology in 2023 and “Inculturation, Globalization, and Cosmopolis” in March of 2024 on the occasion of Annual Lonergan Colloquium at the Marquette University, Milwaukee, US.
